What is your job description and what does your role involve?

Regular sales calls and training sessions for our Travel Agents.

Which parts of the travel industry do you work with?

Travel Industry Retailers.

What do you love most about your job?

The people! Travel Agents and Industry supporters are some of the most caring and honest people in the business world, and they ensure their customer’s holiday expectations come true.

What are the challenges of your role?

During COVID, we lost many Travel Agents to other industries, so the ones who remain are so busy they don’t have a lot of time for quality training; yet the future of our Industry will depend on knowledge, so finding a happy medium is the key.

What do you wish the travel industry did more of?

Recognising that the Travel Agents are our Industries Frontline and their prominence when it comes to “Knowing the Customer”.

How can the travel industry work with you?

Identify the Strengths and Weaknesses of your team and let’s set a plan for growth.

What is your favourite African experience and why?

When we were visiting Little Chitabe Safari Camp, one of the guests asked a young staff member if he had a drink called “Malibu”. He apologised for not having that spirit in the bar. The customer was very happy with the alternatives. He then disappeared for some time to return from the darkness, sweating with a bottle of Malibu in hand. He had run through the bush in the darkness to their sister property, Chitabe Camp, and back again and, as you can expect, to the accolades of the guests at the bar.  I do love the caring nature of all the local village staff. They are so proud of having a good job and working in the Wildlife Industry. Their huge smiles are simply contagious.

Where is your next African adventure to?

Tanzania.

What are your top tips for travelling Africa?

Whatever you do don’t run!

Be prepared to be unrushed.
